ABOUT THE OWNERS:
Scot and Cheryl Ryckman have been supplying Nipissing Game Farm Inc. with the quail they raised on their farm, Ryckman Farms, in Muirkirk, Ontario since 2003. When the previous owners of NGF decided that they wanted to retire, the Ryckmans decided it was time to take charge of their own destiny and bought the processing plant in 2011.
Scot and Cheryl have two children, Shelby and Jamie, and have a strong desire to raise their children with the “farm life” ethic and strong foundation that their parents gave them. Scot graduated from Fanshawe College with a diploma in Business Finance. Since that time, his career has included various jobs involving sales. |
Cheryl graduated from St. Clair College with a diploma in Business Marketing. Since that time, her career has included export clerk and U.S. customer service representative.
Once Scot and Cheryl began their family they decided they wanted to enjoy the farm life with their children and began Ryckman Farms. After much research and determination they brought in breeding stock from Quebec and began raising Coturnix quail. Within four months their first shipment was ready for Nipissing Game Farm Inc. Before long Ryckman Farms went from supplying NGF with 20,000 birds a week to currently supplying them with 40,000 – 50,000 per week.
